Still more firefighters
More firefighters arrive and this guy on the phone. He goes up to the back door of one of the brick buildings and the firemen chase him back.
The sudden increase in firemen and all the pointing suggest that something's happening outside this alley. In retrospect, I think they are probably reacting to another building catching on fire.
About this time, a policeman comes down the alley and chases us all out. The cordon is getting thrown down now that they have the streets blocked off, I find. When I cut back up to Grace and walk further down to find a new vantage point, I pass some girls with a big camera.
"I feel like such a blood-sucking reporter! I'll do anything to get that shot."
She has to repeat this a couple times, because her friend to whom she's talking is on the phone.
Other girls who work at a sandwich place are out on Grace, announcing that cold drinks are just a dollar.
