Self-preservation (and flames)
This is the eastern end of the building. I follow some other folks through a space between some buildings on Grace Street and get to the alley that runs between Broad and Grace. Here some firemen have run a hose down the alley from Laurel and they are trying to protect the adjacent row of old buildings.
Where I stand, the heat is fairly uncomfortable and I can feel some spray from the water too. Some people go ahead and get as close as possible, but I don't. It's only a matter of time before we get chased away and I want to be as unobtrusive as possible. I also don't want to get hurt.
