As witnessed by me
A building still under construction caught fire and burned spectacularly on March 26, 2004. And I was there. I first saw the smoke at about 12:45 when I left my math class.
Eyewitness accounts are notoriously inaccurate, but the news reports to which I linked should be less so. The photographs are in order of their time stamps and have not been edited. The text is merely a record of my impressions and what people around me were saying; it should not be regarded as a reliable source of information.
I got far too close. I am very lucky that the wind didn't change, because if it had I might have been hurt and it would have served me right. Obviously, do not try this at home.
