Puggage

Some people carry a lot of baggage, some people have nice luggage. Other, more interesting people have puggage. This weekend we visited with our friends, Siegfried and Roy (nicknames selected by themselves, under threat of being called "Elvis and Priscilla"), and the pugs who own them. The pugs do seem to be relatively benevolent dictators, as long as they get constant attention, liver-flavored crackers, and kibble before the cuckoo clock finishes striking eight. And did I mention the constant attention?

Sebago is still a puppy, but gives evidence of being more of a Gamma-Delta pug

The pugs pretty much wore us all out, although the two bottles of champagne consumed Sunday afternoon to celebrate my semester's end may have been a significant contributing factor to our fatigue. The weekend also featured searching for parking near Dupont Circle on a Saturday night (futility!), singing waiters (showtunes!), and visiting with Scooter and Hombre who, like Roy and Siegfried, are moving to Providence, Rhode Island, as soon as next week. This nearly completes the northward migration of our friends in the D.C. area. One of these summers, we'll head north for a grand tour and make them all feed us lobster.

Siegfried and Roy thank Creature and Oz for understanding about our not accompanying them into the urban jungle to view the used book. Coordinating plans to move to Paul Bunyan's back yard requires much time and energy, especially difficult in light of its bittersweetness. S & R, as well as their Lord Pugs, very much look forward to Creature and Oz's next visit in 2 weeks. (S & R have also extended an invitation to Red and the French children's book character to stay with them that weekend. A maybe, thus far.)

Today S & R purchased 2 new HP notebook computers to enable them to communicate with greater ease between the North Woods and the Power Suit village. Hopefully a great improvement in speed will be witnessed.

Tonight we break the news of our pending move to two additional Virginia friends, D & C, the keepers of the canine posing as a feline, Samantha. I forget if Creature and Oz have ever had the pleasure of an audience with the great Samantha? Such a rare privilege, indeed.

I hope you enjoy your new computers. I have made CDs with pictures and slideshows and will get them in the mail on Monday. They'll look wonderful on those new screens.

Although we have heard much about her, we have not been presented to the great Samantha. Perhaps on this next visit? We would be happy to see D & C again too, of course.
